| The Grand Bazaar, Nuruosmaniye gate. Originally the site of a busy market in Byzantine times, the prime location drew artisan guilds and traders during the Ottoman Empire and the market kept expanding. Eventually the different areas were connected with covered walkways and the entire complex was roofed. |
