Derinkuyu Underground City - the deepest underground city in the region. The complex was 11 floors deep (85 meters) and had stables, cellars, chapels, as well as sleeping quarters. It could accomodate 35,000-50,000 people, and was primarily used as an extended-duration escape shelter when the Romans or Arabs invaded.
