Dolmabahce Palace - the Ottomans' last hurrah. Built in 1853 in the European Rococo style, the palace served as the new royal residence (replacing Topkapi). The Ottoman sultan sided with Germany in WWI, and as a result the royal family was sent into exile after the signing of the disarmament truce in 1922.
