The iconic Chain Bridge (Széchenyi lánchíd), built by Scotsman Adam Clark between 1842 and 1849 with backing from Count István Széchenyi. Before this bridge spanned the Danube, people relied on pontoon barges in the summer, and ferries or walking across a frozen river in the winter
